Concept

The rhizograph series was made in Kyoto as part of an artist residency programme (Bridge to Kyoto), which the artist participated in March 2023. For more than 1 month, she researched the natural raw materials and wood joinery solutions used in Japanese architecture and design, focusing on the city's architecture and object culture. The various pieces in the series feature details of the city, textures from existing temples, details from Gion and other Kyoto fragments.
